Populonia was once the nerve center of the Etruscan colony which had concentrated its commercial and economic activity in the Gulf of Baratti. The acropolis can still be visited and the village retains a particular charm.

In Populonia there is also a small archaeological museum and it is possible to climb the medieval tower to enjoy a breathtaking view.

In summer all the restaurants and shops are open, so a tour of this village is worth doing. It would be interesting to combine the visit with an aperitif, or a visit to the acropolis or a nice walk while admiring the sunset over the sea. In short, enjoy your slow time in this wonderful corner of nature.

Other interesting villages to visit can be found in the downloadable guide at this link.
