The Gulf of Baratti

Rich in history and unmissable in all seasons...

The Gulf of Baratti is characterized by a long golden beach surrounded by a beautiful pine forest and a large meadow where it is wonderful to rest, have a picnic, and fly kites with children. The Gulf has a particular history; in Etruscan times, it was used as a port area and for iron processing. And it is precisely this ancient activity that today constitutes its peculiarity because the sand is still rich in ferrous residues that appear like glitter! Digging, you can also find more significant residues. The Etruscan history of the place is also visible in the numerous excavations surrounding the beach.

In Baratti, you will find bars and an equipped beach from May to September. In the pine forest, you will find a famous shack where you can enjoy excellent freshly prepared sandwiches, and in the main car park, one of our favorite kiosks: Il Polpo di Baratti, with outdoor tables, perfect for a sunset aperitif facing the sea!

For lovers of walks, it is possible to reach another pebble and stone beach through a path that winds through the Mediterranean scrub and along the coast. This beach is perfect for snorkeling! You can find the path starting from the main car park next to the La Perla restaurant.

Other services available in Baratti: electric bike rental, sailing and SUP courses, possibility to book boat trips at the small port.
