Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Sofia Caponi is a young creative who set her dream in motion in the historic centre of Suvereto. After studying at Polimoda in Florence and working for major fashion companies, she returned to her hometown and opened a creative studio dedicated to her great passion: sustainable fashion. The mantra she holds dear, and on which her creative lab is based, is precisely this: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
This innovative space embraces the circular economy, transforming deadstock materials and second-hand clothing through the process of upcycling, giving them new life and value.
A Workshop for Creativity and Sustainability
Although still in its early stages, the workshop is already fully equipped and offers a wide range of services, from garment repairs to complete restyling, as well as the opportunity to purchase upcycled pieces and locally crafted accessories. Here, every garment tells a story of rebirth, promoting a more sustainable and conscious model of consumption.
Collaboration with Menabòh
Sofia recently joined the team at Menabòh, a new start-up that acts as a platform for designers specialising in upcycling. This collaboration aims to promote a more responsible approach to fashion shopping, encouraging younger generations (and others) to consider altering and reinventing the items in their wardrobes rather than opting for fast fashion. The aim is to encourage more sustainable and environmentally friendly habits.
The Story of Sofia Caponi
Born in the Tuscan hills in 1996 and raised a stone’s throw from the sea, Sofia showed a strong creative streak from a young age, expressing herself through her first paintings on the walls of her home and by styling her dolls. This passion for fashion led her to study fashion design at the Polimoda Fashion Institute in Florence in 2015.
After graduating, she worked as an assistant to a beachwear and leisurewear designer at the Venetian company ‘Diesel’, where she was able to deepen her knowledge of fabrics and hone her graphic design skills. This experience enabled her to understand the importance of conveying a message through clothing, making her fall even more in love with the creative process behind every collection.
The Birth of SOSO – Studio Circolare
Driven by a passion for art and sustainability, Sofia recently realised her dream by founding “SOSO – Studio Circolare”. Here, the circular economy becomes the driving force behind creativity, transforming waste materials into unique and sustainable garments. The “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” collection is an invitation to rethink the way we consume, challenging the vortex of consumerism.
Sofia Caponi, with her innovative vision and commitment to sustainability, demonstrates that it is possible to combine fashion with respect for the environment. “SOSO – Studio Circolare” is much more than just a workshop: it is a manifesto of creativity, a place where every garment tells a story of rebirth and hope for a more sustainable future.
