Let me tell you what 2025 will be like in Suvereto and the Val di Cornia: a blend of tradition and new ideas
This year, the events calendar is more than just a summer programme: it spans the whole year, with events having already begun in April and running through to December, offering visitors to the village a rich, authentic and ongoing experience.
“There’s always a good reason to come to Suvereto and enjoy yourself!” – says Mayor Jessica Pasquini, who, together with the local council and the network of local associations, is working to offer a range of cultural, artistic, gastronomic and community initiatives that keep the spirit of the village alive at all times.
The council is revamping and strengthening now-iconic events such as Calici di Stelle, the Borgo dei Ragazzi and the Grey Cat Jazz Festival, thanks to an ever-stronger partnership with organisations such as the Ente Valorizzazione Suvereto, Suvernova, the Ente Puccini and the Cavalieri di Ildebrandino.
Summer begins with flavour… and poetry
It all kicks off on 20, 21 and 22 June with ‘Note di Vermentino’, a three-day event dedicated to the white wine that symbolises the coast, enhanced on 21 June by a special occasion: ‘La Notte Romantica dei Borghi più belli d’Italia’ (The Romantic Night of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages), organised by the Suvernova association.
In July, the Medieval Evenings return (19th and 20th) and the thrilling Palio dell’Imperatore takes place on the eve of Ferragosto, brought to life by the Spingitori. August continues with ‘Sapori tra le mura’ (23–25 August), and of course ‘Calici di Stelle’, the night of 10 August that combines wine, shooting stars and street food: an unmissable event for anyone wishing to discover Suvereto’s most joyful spirit.
Music, theatre and historical re-enactments under the stars
The Suverart Festival, organised by Ente Puccini, brings music and theatre to the village and its most picturesque locations. On the historical front, the Knights of Ildebrandino set up their medieval camp every evening at the foot of the Rocca, staging costumed re-enactments that captivate young and old alike.
There’ll be plenty of concerts too, including:
- “Anime Salve Trio” (25 July), a tribute to De André,
- “A Reggae History” (29 July), a tribute to Bob Marley,
- the Grey Cat Jazz Festival featuring “Five Winds” (6 August),
- and Fabrizio Pocci’s show “Per sempre notte” (29 August), a journey through music and words.
An autumn of culture and flavour
In September, “Letteralmente Scalando”, Suvernova’s new poetry festival, will run alongside the Borgo dei Ragazzi, which transforms the streets of the town centre into a child-friendly world. October will bring the eagerly awaited Artimborgo, an art and craft fair organised by the Traders’ Association and forming part of the village’s cultural regeneration project.
The calendar continues even into the colder months: the Wild Boar Festival and the elegant end-of-year toast with ‘Calici di San Silvestro’ bring 2025 to a close with the authentic flavour of tradition.
