An authentic culinary experience in Suvereto
Welcome to my column "Around the Village", where I take you to discover the hidden treasures of our wonderful territory. Today I present a special place that embodies the tradition and authenticity of Tuscan cuisine: the family restaurant Il Caminetto, located in the historic center of Suvereto.
A bit of history
Il Caminetto is a family-run restaurant that for over forty years has delighted the palates of its guests with typical dishes of Tuscan tradition.
The location, purchased by a young dreamer in 1982 to create a private home, was destined for a different project because the atmosphere in the square deserved to be shared with a cosmopolitan group, and so a simple and welcoming environment was created with a pizza and a few traditional dishes.
Fabrizio, Ilaria, Antonietta, and Francesco are the owners of the restaurant that we now consider family. Just think, we spent the winter always having lunch here every time we came to Suvereto to carry out the renovation work on the new house, La Terrazza sul Borgo.
I now know the menu by heart, and this makes me feel at home. Every dish is a certainty. What I always recommend to my guests is to try the homemade pasta or tortelli made by Francesco. They can be seasoned with mushrooms, butter, or wild boar sauce. At Il Caminetto, you can also eat pizza, and the menu is simple and suitable for children, who will always find numerous alternatives here. My children, even though still young, now often come to eat alone at the restaurant, they know the menu by heart and feel like family. Their favorite dishes? Pici with ragù, carbonara pasta, Medieval pizza. Yes, because here in the evening they also make pizza, and it's also possible to order it for takeout (perhaps to eat it in the garden of La Casa nel Castello!).
